About Me

Hi,

My name is Nacita Sunoto. I am an Indonesian girl and I will be turning 17 in November 2008 (yes!). I am about 160 cm tall and weigh about 55 kg.  I have dark eyes and dark hair and people said that I have a great smile!

I like to be with friends, but sometimes I also enjoy being alone, just to do my own things.  I am adaptable to new environment and I like challenges.  I go to a public high school not far from where I live, riding my motorcycle.  My friends see me as a brave and an active person because I am always curious and always want to do new things.  I think I am also quite adventurous as I like outdoor activities such as travelling to the country side to see mountains, rice paddies and waterfalls.  These things always amaze me!

My hobbies are reading novels & manga, watching anime, listening to the music and writing.  I have written a number of essays.  I wrote about gender equity, environment and teenage stuff.  You can check some of them by opening “MY Writing” of this blog.  I am currently writing a novel for teenagers but it is not yet finished as I have to be in a very good mood to write .. ha .. ha.  My best achievement in writing so far is being awarded a second prize for a national essay writing competition on environment.  I received a trophy from the Indonesian Minister of National Education which made me very proud!  Oh by the way, I play piano, classical, so I regularly play Bach’s, Mozart’s, Chopin’s and Liszt’s composition.  I also play guitar, mostly pop music.  In sport, I practice taekwondo once a week.  I currently hold the red belt.

I come from a small happy family.  My dad Sunoto is hillarious … he likes to joke a lot and we always tease him all the time.  There is no day without laughter when he is around (in short, he is quite a bozo!).  My mom Nina is a very loving mother.  She kisses all the time (which sometimes bother me).  At her office she manages some funds to support women’s and children’s health in poor area in the eastern part of Indonesia.  Her program tries to reduce the unacceptably high maternal and infant deaths in our country.  She often travels to remote areas just to make sure that midwives are trained and that community health centres receive adequate medicine supplies.  I don’t mind if she travels quite a long time for her work.  I know she is helping our people and I can take care of myself.  I have to be independent, right?

My only sibling, Bella, is a sweet person.  She is 13 and she goes to Al-Azhar Junior High.  She is a great dancer (she does traditional dances).  We get along quite okay, but as sisters everywhere, we argue over clothes, tv, school stuff etc.  We have three cats: two beautiful black cats named Yoppie (Axellie Yoppie Assandra Sunoto) and Inoki (Inoki Kuroyanagi Sunoto) and a gorgeous white furry Persian called Helix (Axel Shori Helix Sunoto).  My dad raised his eyebrows about the family name but I said that they are also members of the family, so they are also the Sunoto’s… ha … ha … ! He particularly likes Inoki because it was born on 4 October, the date he met mom.  So it brings a kind of romantic memory to him.

My parents look after us very well.  I think my dad sometimes is too protective but we know that it’s because he loves us so much.  We learn a lot from our mom how to be a good Moslem and how to be discipline.  She sometimes would get mad at us if we don’t do our tasks on time.  I feel we have good communication and we can discuss things openly.  My parents let me make my own decisions on certain things, but for bigger issues like when having problem or when I feel down .. such as facing an unfair competition, I go to my mom for advice.  Then she would say that there will always be unfairness in our lives but we have to keep trying our best and be confident that we will be successfull.  At home we still keep our traditional values.  At school I am an OSIS (Student’s organisation) member.  I enjoy being in OSIS as it teaches me good leadership skills.

When I grow up I want to be a diplomat.  Indonesia needs good diplomats to protect our country’s interests and to promote mutual understanding.  Other countries need to know Indonesia better and I can introduce our culture, our art and so on.  At the same time it contributes to the pormotion of world peace.  I want to see the world to gain more knowledge.  I am curious about other cultures and way of life. By doing this, I hope to be able to see things more objectively and from different angles.

Thanks for visiting my “official” blog.  I hope you enjoy it.  Please also visit my Friendster site which is in a more informaly style and is much more fun (in Bahasa Indonesia).  Click here fye@d.flourite

Cheers!

Nacita Sunoto

PS: By the way, I am leaving for France in September 2008 (hopefully).  I have been selected as an AFS student and I will be taking my third year of high school (grade 12) at Lycee Edouard Branly in Availles-En-Chatellerault, a small city in southwestern part of the country.  Thank you God for choosing me … I am very grateful.  I very much look forward to this one year student exchange program … and hopefully will have the opportunity to go to Paris and see La Tour Eiffel, Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame, Musee du Louvre, Musee d’Orsay, Jardin du Luxembourg … hmmm … that would be a once in a life time experience for me, wouldn’t it?

    Love. Om Ade.
